By accessing or using TreeHost (the "Service"), operated by Savvy Stack, Inc. ("we", "us", or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Savvy Stack, Inc. You represent that you are at least 18 years of age and have the authority to enter into this agreement.
TreeHost is a cloud hosting platform designed for behavioural researchers using oTree, an open-source framework for economic experiments. The Service allows you to:
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service or any feature at any time.
You may sign in using a supported identity provider (GitHub or Google) or via a magic link sent to your email address. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and all activity that occurs under it.
You agree to:
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:
We reserve the right to remove any content and suspend access for violations of this policy without prior notice.
Ownership. You retain full ownership of all research data, experiment projects, and participant data stored in your Workspaces. We claim no intellectual property rights over your content.
Responsibility. You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of participant data complies with applicable laws (including GDPR, CCPA, and local research ethics requirements), your institution's IRB or ethics board approval, and any data handling agreements with participants.
Deletion. When you tear down a Workspace, the associated data — including oTree databases, uploaded project files, and experiment results — will be removed from the Service.
Data processing. By using the Service, you authorize us to store and process your data as described in our Privacy Policy.
The Service is currently in private beta. During this period:
We encourage you to export any critical experiment data before tearing down Workspaces, and not to rely on the Service for time-sensitive production experiments without a contingency plan.
Plain language: we're a small team running an early-stage service. Please don't use TreeHost as your only copy of important research data, and don't run a session with real participants unless you have a backup plan if something goes wrong.
The Service is currently provided free of charge during the beta period. When paid plans are introduced, you will be notified in advance and given the opportunity to choose a plan or discontinue use. Continued use of the Service after paid plans are introduced will constitute acceptance of the applicable pricing.
You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at [email protected]. Upon account deletion, all your Workspaces and associated data will be removed.
We may suspend or terminate your access immediately if you breach these Terms, engage in fraudulent or abusive behaviour, or if we determine that your use poses a security or legal risk to us or other users.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Savvy Stack, Inc. and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of data, loss of revenue, or loss of research results — arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.
Our total liability for any claim arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $100.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or liabilities. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by a prominent notice on the Service. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict of laws provisions.
If you have questions about these Terms, please contact us at [email protected].
